La baguette énergique de Karajan prête à fendre l'air,
le poing vindicatif serré à hauteur du visage sont désormais
dans la légende. "Karajan savait rallonger une mesure juste en tendant
le bras, il avait une technique époustouflante", se souvient Christa
Ludwig, cantatrice émérite. Dix ans après la mort du
Maestro, de grands artistes qui ont travaillé avec lui racontent
le travail, les répétitions, l'homme, le chef d'orchestre,
le metteur en scène, l'homme d'affaires ou le collaborateur curieux
de toutes les nouvelles technologies. Des archives étayent ces témoignages:
répétitions d'orchestre, cours de direction, entretiens télévisés
avec le Maestro, photographies. Peu à peu se dessine le portrait
d'un homme d'une très grande modernité aux multiples facettes.

was breathtaking". Christa Ludwig recalls, herself remembered as a vocalist
of great talent. Ten years after the death of the Maestro, some of the great
artists who worked with Karajan tell about their experiences, the rehearsals,
what it was like to work under him as an orchestra conductor, his abilities
as a stage director and as a businessman, his fascination with the latest
technologies. With the help of archive material that includes rehearsals,
classes for conductors, television interviews, various photographs and other
items, there emerges the portrait of an extremely modern individual with
many sides to his nature.

Strecken seines Armes einen Takt verlängern, er hatte eine verblüffende
Technik", erinnert sich die erfahrene Sängerin Christa Ludwig. Zehn
Jahre nach dem Tod des Meisters erzählen grosse Künstler, die
mit ihm zusammen gearbeitet haben, von der Arbeit, den Proben, dem Chef
des Orchesters, dem Regisseur, dem Geschäftsmann und dem Mitarbeiter
und seiner Neugier auf alle neuen Technologien. Archivmaterial belegt
das Gesagte: Orchesterproben, Dirigentenkurse, Fernsehinterviews mit
